Jack Bauer: {Voice over} The following takes place between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. on the day of the California Presidential primary.
{The sun is up and Jonathan is putting the finishing touches on his transformation into Martin Belkin. He puts contacts in both eyes and fixes his hair to look like Martin's. Jonathan grabs the ID card and walks over to Ira Gaines}
IRA GAINES: You're seeing the senator in an hour. Get going or you'll hit traffic.
JONATHAN: I'm on my way.
{Jack is on his way to CTU with his earpiece connecting him to Gaines. A cop car stops next to Jack at a red light as he looks over.}
IRA GAINES: {Through radio} Eyes straight ahead Jack. Let the cops go.........It's a green light Jack. Make a right. I left something for you under your visor.
JACK BAUER: What do you want me to do with this?
{It's a keycard}
IRA GAINES: I'll tell you when you get to your office.
FADE OUT::
INT. CTU
{Milo, the programmer called in to work the keycard on the Palmer hit is getting closer to the shooter's name.}
NINA MYERS: You pull something off the keycard?
MILO: I may be close to finding your assassin.
NINA MYERS: You get a name?
MILO: Almost. You see this? {Points to his screen} It's a scramble medical file. If the shooter is in here, he is most likely trying to hide his identity.
NINA MYERS: Call me when you get a name.

{Keith Palmer is jogging with secret service behind him. The Senator's motorcade stops next to Keith}
{David gets out}
SENATOR PALMER: Keith.
AGENT PEIRCE: Sir let my men bring him in......Sir there's a threat on your life.
SENATOR PALMER: Call your men off.....Keith wait up.
KEITH PALMER: Go away.
SENATOR PALMER: I'm going to speak at the breakfast to tell our side of the story.
KEITH PALMER: Our side? It's not going to matter how the story comes out. Everyone's still going to think I killed Gibson that night.
SENATOR PALMER: Keith....I believe you son if you say so. Your mother and I are going to this breakfast in an hour. We want you and Nicole to be there.
KEITH PALMER: Why? So you can sacrifice your son to CNN?
SENATOR PALMER: You never gave me the chance to help you.
KEITH PALMER: HOW COULD I, I MEAN YOU WEREN'T THERE! Forget it. {He starts jogging again}
SENATOR PALMER: Keith!
FADE OUT::::
EXT. GAINES COMPOUND
KIM BAUER: Rick, help me get out of here.
RICK: How? This place is like a prison.
KIM BAUER: People break out of prison all the time.
RICK: Look, Gaines said he'd let me go after I bury Dan. Now once I'm out of here, I'll call your dad tell him where you are.
KIM BAUER: Great plan except your not going to get out. Gaines won't let you go.
RICK: He's got no reason to keep me here.
KIM BAUER: Exactly.
FADE OUT:::
EXT. CTU PARKING LOT
{Jack arrives, He gets out and heads for the entrance} 6:08:23, 6:08:24, 6:08:25
JACK BAUER: {To Gaines} What do you want me to do here?
IRA GAINES: Replace the keycard we gave you with the one your people are trying to decrypt.
JACK BAUER: Because we're getting to close?
IRA GAINES: Just do it Jack. Remember Jack I can hear everything. I'm God right now.
NINA MYERS: I have been trying to reach you for the last half an hour what is going on?
JACK BAUER: My cell phone battery died.
NINA MYERS: What happened at the medical clinic? You find Kim?
JACK BAUER: Turns out everything is fine, she was just at a party.
NINA MYERS: That's good. Did Teri give you my message?
JACK BAUER: No.
NINA MYERS: We ID'd the corpse you brought in. His name is Alan York.
JACK BAUER: WHAT?
NINA MYERS: He's an accountant from the valley, I don't know how he's connected to all this.
JACK BAUER: Excuse me. {He runs up his stairs and into radio} He says.
JACK BAUER: Alan York is dead...Who is the man with my wife?
IRA GAINES: He's not an accountant from the valley that's for sure.
JACK BAUER: If you hurt my wife or my daughter I will kill you you son of a bitch.
{GUNSHOT}
JACK BAUER: MY GOD....WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?..........WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?
IRA GAINES: Everything's fine Jack but that will be the last sound your wife and daughter hear unless you get a hold of yourself and do what your told.
JACK BAUER: I'll do what you want.
IRA GAINES: That's the spirit.....now...the keycard. Replace it.
JACK BAUER: That won't be easy.
IRA GAINES: I'm sure you'll find a way.
JACK BAUER: Not without attracting attention.
IRA GAINES: That would be unacceptable. You implicate yourself, you seem to be useless and so does your family. Like I said Jack, find a way.
{Gaines calls the man we thought was Alan York. His real name is Kevin Carrol. Ira leaves a message}
IRA GAINES: Kevin, Bauer's wife knows you're not Alan York, be careful.
FADE OUT::::::::
INT. KEVIN'S CAR
KEVIN CARROL: You okay?
TERI BAUER: I feel a little woozy, could you pull over please?
KEVIN CARROL: We're almost there.
TERI BAUER: Please just stop the car.
{Kevin stops and Teri runs up a hill acting like she is going to throw up. Kevin checks his phone and listens to Gaines' message. He gets up as Teri blind-sides him with a board. They struggle, Teri reaches for the keys but Kevin tosses them away. Teri knocks him out again with another blow this time with a huge rock.]

{Teri ties up Kevin. She tries to flag down a passing car but has no luck.]
INT. GAINES COMPOUND, GAINES OFFICE
RICK: Dan's buried.
IRA GAINES: Oh that's good.
RICK: You said you would pay me when we got back here.
IRA GAINES: I know what I said.
RICK: Well if it's a problem pay me whenever.
IRA GAINES: Oh that's very kind of you Rick.
RICK: But I should go and get out of everyone's way.
IRA GAINES: I didn't realize you were in anyone's way.
RICK: I'm not. I did everything you wanted me to do so there's no reason for me to be here.
IRA GAINES: Tell ya what, I got a couple more things for you to do. Then we can talk about when you can go. 6:19:20, 6:19:21, 6:19:22

INT. CTU JACKS OFFICE
{Into earpiece}
IRA GAINES: This is taking to long Jack.
JACK BAUER: If I switch the cards it will attract attention and that will be bad for both of us.
IRA GAINES: You have a few minutes to make this happen.
JACK BAUER: Fine I'll do it. I just need to make it look natural when I go down to the workstation.
{Jack starts to write a note but Gaines sees it on his monitor, Jack realizes that someone has set up cameras inside CTU}
IRA GAINES: Drop the pen and shred the paper....................That's right Jack, I'm watching you.........SHRED THE NOTE NOW OR YOUR DAUGHTER DIES.
{Jack shreds the note as Nina walks into Jack's office}
NINA MYERS: What happened down there? I was in the middle of telling you something important and you just walk away.
JACK BAUER: I'm sorry, what did you want to tell me?
NINA MYERS: I think Milo is about to identify the shooter.
JACK BAUER: That's great.
NINA MYERS: We just need a few more minutes with the card.
{INTO EAR PEICE}
IRA GAINES: Switch it Jack, no more excuses.
JACK BAUER: Look tell Milo to wait till I get down there.
NINA MYERS: You want him to stop working on the card?
JACK BAUER: Just till I get down there. I'll be a minute.
NINA MYERS: Allright but hurry, he's in section seven.
FADE OUT::::
INT. PALMER SUITE
6:21:19, 6:21:20, 6:21:21
SENATOR PALMER: Mom told you what's been going on?
NICOLE PALMER: Yeah................Is Keith going to jail?
SENATOR PALMER: Not if it happened the way he said it did.
NICOLE PALMER: It did.
SENATOR PALMER: Then he'll be fine.
NICOLE PALMER: Is he coming to the breakfast?
SENATOR PALMER: I hope so......Listen I know it's a lot to ask…
NICOLE PALMER: Don't worry dad, I'll be there.
SENATOR PALMER: You're going to get a lot of hard questions thrown at you. Not just about Keith. They're going to bring up the rape.
NICOLE PALMER: I know.
SENATOR PALMER: It will be okay.
NICOLE PALMER: I was hoping it was over.
SENATOR PALMER: You don't have to answer anything you don't want to. Just say no comment or refer them to me.
FADE OUT:::
INT. CTU MILO'S STATION
JACK BAUER: Hey Nina said you were close to finding the shooter.
MILO: Yeah.
JACK BAUER: How much longer?
MILO: I was waiting for you.
JACK BAUER: Waiting for me what do you mean, why would you be waiting for me?
{Jack knocks over a cup with crackers in it as Milo picks them up Jack switches the keycards}
JACK BAUER: I'm sorry.
MILO: It's fine I got it.
{Gaines}
IRA GAINES: That's my boy.
JACK BAUER: Milo just get me the name.

EXT. MULLHOLAND ROAD.
{Teri continues to flag down passing cars as Kevin wakes up}
KEVIN CAROL: Bad idea. You flag down that car you bury your daughter. I'm the only hope of getting her back.
TERI BAUER: Where is she you son of a bitch?
KEVIN CAROL: You going to knock me out again, because I can't talk when I'm unconscious.
TERI BAUER: Shut up...Shut up.
KEVIN CAROL: Calling the cops would be just as bad or you calling Jack.
TERI BAUER: SHUT UP.

INT. CTU JACKS OFFICE
{On phone}
JACK BAUER: Jack Bauer clearance number Q22Q17 pass me through to Senator Palmer secret service.
OPERATOR: Hold please.
JACK BAUER: {To Gaines} What do you want me to tell them?
IRA GAINES: That you need priority clearance at the breakfast.
{Back on phone}
FRANK MILLER: Miller.
JACK BAUER: Hey it's Jack Bauer over at CTU, I need priority clearance for Palmer's breakfast.
FRANK MILLER: Sir we locked the list.
JACK BAUER: Open it up.
FRANK MILLER: I can't do that without approval from command.
JACK BAUER: Then call command, my clearance number is Q22Q17.
FRANK MILLER: Allright, you'll be checking in with agent Pierce when you arrive.
JACK BAUER: Thanks. {Hangs up}
IRA GAINES: Okay now call Division. Post yourself out for the next hour. Let them now you're going to the breakfast and that the investigation is making good progress.
FADE OUT::::
INT. GAINES COMPOUND HOLDING CELL
{Rick enters to see Kim}
RICK: You're right, Gaines isn't letting me go yet.
KIM BAUER: So what are you going to do?
RICK: I don't know.
KIM BAUER: Let's get out of here Rick.
{Rick grabs some chalk and draws a map on the floor as a guard named ELIE is about to enter, Kim thinks quickly and grabs Rick and throws him on top of her}
ELIE: What the hell are you doing?
RICK: Give me five minutes dude, no one has to know.
ELIE: I'll give you four.
{Lie exits}
RICK: When I go back out I'll leave the door unlocked. I'll make sure his back is turned. Go across the path behind the shed and meet me there.
FADE OUT::::
INT. CTU MILO'S STATION
{Milo is confused on the keycard}
MILO: No not true........{Looks at screen} Also not true.
NINA MYERS: What's wrong?
MILO: This isn't the same keycard I was working on before.
NINA MYERS: What makes you say that?
MILO: I was twenty percent through this thing a few minutes ago now it's saying it's 99 percent complete.
NINA MYERS: Isn't that a good thing?
MILO: Yeah if it were true.
NINA MYERS: You have been sitting there the whole time. Who could have switched the cards?
{Milo knows and looks at Nina as Nina looks at Jack's office}
INT. JACKS OFFICE
{Nina walking up his stairs as Jack is on the phone with Division}
JACK BAUER: I need to post out until eight. Thank you bye. Not now Nina I'm busy
NINA MYERS: Where's the keycard?
JACK BAUER: What?
{Gaines into earpiece}
IRA GAINES: Careful Jack.
NINA MYERS: Someone replaced the keycard Walsh gave you with this one.
JACK BAUER: Who?
NINA MYERS: Milo thinks it was you.
JACK BAUER: What are you talking about?
NINA MYERS: The only time Milo took his eyes off the system is when you distracted him.
JACK BAUER: Okay you're right. I just didn't want to alarm anybody. Division got some information they didn't trust Milo with it.
NINA MYERS: Where's the keycard Jack?
IRA GAINES: Take care of this Jack.
NINA MYERS: Give it to me Jack or I'll call Division myself.
{Jack holds out the card as Nina tries to take it Jack drops it and grabs her. He holds a gun to her and puts a jacket on her}
JACK BAUER: I'm sorry Nina, I'm sorry. I will kill you if I have to. Now no screaming.
IRA GAINES: Get her out of there now.
NINA MYERS: I don't understand Jack.
JACK BAUER: Nina don't talk, I'll explain everything once we get out of here.
{They head down the stairs to the main floor as Tony walks up to them}
TONY ALMEIDA: Where you guys going?
JACK BAUER: Division set up a meeting between agencies, Nina will brief you when she gets back.
{They walk outside and to the car as they climb in}
NINA MYERS: What are you doing Jack where are you taking me?
JACK BAUER: Start the car and drive.

{Teri gets a hold of Jamey}
JAMEY FARREL: CTU this is Farrel.
TERI BAUER: Jamey it's Teri Bauer is Jack there?
JAMEY FARREL: No he just left with Nina.
TERI BAUER: Is he okay because he dropped his cell phone I though something might of happened to him.
JAMEY FARREL: He seemed fine to me can I help you with something Teri?
TERI BAUER: I'm in trouble and so is my daughter Kim.
JAMEY FARREL: Slow down. Tell me what's wrong.
TERI BAUER: Kim's been kidnapped. Someone tried to take me to.
JAMEY FARREL: Did you call the police?
TERI BAUER: No, no, Jack said they can't be involved otherwise Kimberly's dead.
JAMEY FARREL: All right tell me where you are so I can send someone from CTU to pick you up.
TERI BAUER: I'm on Mullholand a mile east of Coldwater. Jamey tell them to hurry.
{Hangs up}
FADE OUT:::
EXT. GAINES COMPOUND
{Rick opens the shed door and leaves it unlocked and walks up to Elie.}
RICK: Can't say this job doesn't have its benefits.
ELIE: Dude you're lucky. Gaines would have got you. Bang your dead.
RICK: Yeah well Gaines didn't catch me did he?
{They walk away from the shed}
RICK: So how long you been working with Gaines?
ELIE: I don't know on and off a couple months.
RICK: Is he good for his word?
ELIE: What do you mean?
RICK: Is he going to pay me?
ELIE: Sure.
RICK: I don't know. I get the feeling he doesn't like me.
ELIE: Yeah, he gets uptight on the job.
{They continue to walk away from the shed as Rick makes an excuse to go back}
{Kim waits for Rick where he told her to meet him}
KIM BAUER: Did anyone see you?
RICK: No, we're cool. Now when we get to the fence there's a cluster of trees. That's where we want to be. Ready?
KIM BAUER: Let's go.
FADE OUT:::
{A car from CTU arrives for Teri. Two men approach her}
AGENT: Teri Bauer?
TERI BAUER: Yes. Guys got here fast.
AGENT: They told us it was urgent.
TERI BAUER: They have my daughter, this man knows where she is. Have you heard from Jack?
AGENT: No ma'am.
TERI BAUER: Wait why are you untying him?
{The fake agent grabs her, puts a cloth over her head and ties her up}
KEVIN CAROL: Let's hurry this up, we're running behind.
FADE OUT:::
{Tony wants to know what happened up in Jack's office. Jamey sends the video feed to Tony}

NINA MYERS: Where are we going?
IRA GAINES: Turn right.
JACK BAUER: Turn right.
NINA MYERS: All night you've been feeding me that someone inside the agency wants Palmer dead. Your daughter's missing. No one can be trusted, not even me. Is it all a lie Jack or just some of it?
JACK BAUER: Please Nina don't make this harder then it all ready is.
NINA MYERS: You've got a gun on me Jack. I don't think it gets any worse.
IRA GAINES: Stay on Jefferson, In about three miles you'll see a turnoff.
JACK BAUER: Keep going straight.
NINA MYERS: To think that I trusted you. That I defended you.
JACK BAUER: WATCH OUT...............
{They almost wreck into a stopped car}
IRA GAINES: CAREFUL JACK..................I need you alive.
JACK BAUER: Come on, let's go.

{Jack and Nina roll up to a construction site}
NINA MYERS: What are we doing here? Someone followed us.
JACK BAUER: What do you want me to do here?
NINA MYERS: WHAT? Who are you talking to?
IRA GAINES: Take her out and shoot her.
JACK BAUER: NO.
IRA GAINES: Your choice Jack, Nina or your daughter.
NINA MYERS: Jack I don't understand.
JACK BAUER: Get out of the car......................GET OUT OF THE CAR...........
{Jack is holding Nina away from him}
JACK BAUER: I'm sorry Nina, they have my family.
NINA MYERS: YOU GOING TO KILL ME RIGHT HERE?
JACK BAUER: I have no choice.
IRA GAINES: ENOUGH JUST DO IT JACK.................KIMBERLY'S DEAD IF YOU DON'T DO IT.
JACK BAUER: Please forgive me Nina.
IRA GAINES: SHOT HER JACK NOW.
{BANG BANG..........BANG BANG BANG}
{Nina falls down a hill as Jack climbs back in}

EXT. GAINES COMPOUND
{Rick and Kim begin to get out of there as Kim hears her Moms voice}
RICK: Come on.
KIM BAUER: That's my mom.
RICK: Kim we got to go now.
KIM BAUER: I can't leave her.
RICK: We got to go now Kim.
KIM BAUER: I can't.
{Rick sees a guard patrolling the area where they were going to get out}
RICK: You just blew our only chance to get out of here, come on.
INT. CTU TONY'S DESK
{Tony sees Jack put a flack jacket on Nina}
TONY ALMEIDA: Why did he put a flack jacket on her?
FADE OUT:::
{NINA WAKES UP AND PULLS BULLETS OUT OF HER FLACK JACKET AND WALKS TOWARDS A SHED}
